The residents of Jätkäsaari share eight sorting rooms, two temporary sorting containers and one temporary waste sorting point. These sorting rooms are for household waste that does not fit in the waste pipe.

- LARGE MIXED WASTE: carpets, folders, toys, small household products (wooden and plastic), etc.
- GLASS: jars, bottles and glass packaging
- METAL: cans, metal packaging and small metal items
- LARGE CARDBOARD: pizza- and cardboard boxes well folded.
Thank you for packing all your waste, especially cardboard, tightly in containers.
Sorting rooms are cleaned once a week, during the weekend.
There is so much waste coming into the sorting rooms that HSY is currently unable to empty them fast enough. It is therefore very important that only waste that belongs to the sorting room is brought in and packed properly in waste containers.
DO NOT bring into the sorting room:
- Waste that fits into the waste pipe, e.g. small mixed waste bags do not belong to the sorting room
- Furniture, mattresses, pallets, lamps
- Window and mirror glass
- Electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, accumulators, lamps
Take large waste items to Sortti-station or Rööri Recycling day collection, and reusable items to the Recycling Centre.
